Today’s schedule called for trekking 25.5 miles along county roads just south of I-10, heading to the west of I-10. Since I had no shuttle again today, I did an out-and-back of 12.75 miles on those roads.

Unfortunately, I hadn’t checked the weather. Well, that’s not quite accurate. I did know it was going to be hot today. It was forecast to hit 90 degrees. So with that in mind, I started out wearing shorts and a short-sleeved shirt. Silly me. It was 50 degrees and shady at 8 a.m., and I froze my buns off for the first hour out there. But the temps rose about 10 degrees every hour until hitting 90 degrees, so I was fine by around 9 a.m. And then, I was frying by the afternoon, despite wearing sunscreen and using a sun umbrella.

Boring Day West of I-10

Substantively, nothing too notable happened today, other than meeting some cattle and two dogs that were pretty friendly. But, as you know, not every day on the trail is an exciting day. Especially if you’re hiking on connecting road routes. Still, it’s all good.
