Two hikers on a trail.
Rain, rain, rain! Last year on the NCT was so rainy, as is this year. After taking a zero day yesterday due to the rain, I woke up to rain once again. Luckily, it stopped right as I started hiking. But the trail was pretty wet (obviously).

Once again trail angel Bob shuttled me and also hiked with me for much of the morning. What great company! The trail was quite scenic during our several hours together, and not that wet/muddy.

Heading Toward Lawhead Service Station

Once Bob left, I came upon the Flotz Schoolhouse, which was the last one-room schoolhouse in Pennsylvania. Shortly after that, I neared the Jennings Environmental Education Center. There were lots of picnic tables here, a pavilion, etc. But one weird thing was that there were four or five blue, plastic tubs sitting on the trail. Each one had … poop in it. It looked like a kid’s poop in each one. Not sure what that was about!Signs for the North Country Trail

I lunched on a nice bench, although the temperature kept dropping, so it was cold. With soaking wet socks and shoes from the vegetation, I ate quickly and started hiking again. Most of the afternoon was clicking along backroads. The last mile was through the woods to my car at the Lawhead Service Station. All in all, a good day! Tomorrow I will be hiking almost all day in the  rain once again. Rats.
