Amy had to do some work today, so she shuttled Bruce and me to Malvern and we began hiking east to Hanoverton. The weather was nice today – sunny and warm, but not too hot.
Unfortunately, today’s trek featured a lot of those HUGE uphills. And all on roads. But we persevered.

Making Our Way to Hanoverton
Interestingly, we had four different people/groups stop us to ask us if we were hiking on the North Country Trail. Most said they’d never seen hikers before, or only a few. One man, who was part of the Parks Department in Minerva, said he petitioned the NCTA to reroute the trail through their park, which the NCTA did. We enjoyed it!
Right around the time Bruce and I were going to stop for lunch, a dog approached us. Sadly, it appeared to be old, neglected and very thirsty. We couldn’t figure out how to help it; we’re sure calling 911 wouldn’t have resulted in anything. But it kept following us. So we sped up until, sadly, it couldn’t keep up. I hope he was OK.
Day Is Done
Amy met us when we were a few miles from Hanoverton, then walked us in. We are Fireside Lake again tonight.
