Hiker gazing at lake.
Bruce and I were able to hop on the trail right from our campsite at Piedmont Lake. Ed stayed behind to let our tents dry out; they’d gotten very dewey and wet overnight. I almost turned back immediately.

The trail was FILLED with downed trees, and it took forever to bushwhack around them. Our first mile took 45 minutes! Eventually, though things got a little better, although not that much. But this is spring, so the crews probably haven’t been out yet to start cleaning up.

Making Our Way to Clendening Lake

After emerging from the brush, we had several miles of a road walk. That was rather pleasant, although there were some killer hills. The day wound down Lake on a sunny day.with several mores miles of trail.

Here, we faced a lot more trees to hike around or over. There were lots of overgrown pricker plants that snagged our shirts and pants. But the trail was relatively flat, and we enjoyed pretty views of the lake.

Tonight we’re staying at the Tappan Lakeside Resort – a treat for our hard work!
