Despite no storms on the horizon overnight, we had storms overnight. Luckily, only our camp chairs and my camp shoes got wet.
I hit the trail around 9:15 a.m. I hiked the vast majority of the hills today (uphill), although Ed shuttled me up a few nasty ones so I could hike them downhill. At one point, coming into Old Washington, I passed the county fairgrounds. A person was practicing carriage racing on a race track. Interesting!

Striking Out for Salt Fork State Park
Ed and I had lunch at one of the numerous parking spots for Salt Fork Wildlife Area. He eventually took off to gas up and buy ice and other things we
needed. So I hiked the last several miles alone.
I was disappointed when I hit the trails in Salt Fork. The ones I’ve spied from my car have been typical singletrack hiking trails. The NCT/Buckeye Trail here was like a wide logging road the entire time. Because it’s the start of the season, the path was filled with downed trees and branches, plus overgrown vegetation. So my pace was pretty slow.
Looking forward to tomorrow night, when hiking friend Bruce Eckert joins us!
