It was sad to leave our beautiful cabin today, but we packed up and dropped a car at New Straitsville SP 32, then drove to Tecumseh Lake and dropped two more cars, then began hiking backwards. This was the most efficient for our shuttling.

Heading west from Shawnee, we passed the Buckeye Trail headquarters! We made a big U, going through the downtown and then back toward the lake before heading into the woods.
The trail was pretty nice all day, with some big climbs (obviously), but also a lot of flatter, undulating trail. That was such a nice change of pace!
Making Our Way to Tecumseh Lake
The wildflowers right now are amazing. There are lots of trillium and violets. We identified one new-to-us wildflower through an app as Spring Blue-eyed Mary. They’re tiny purple-and-white flowers, and often appear in blankets across the forest floor.
We came across our second trail register that features Bigfoot – ha! Love it.
Back at Tecumseh Lake, we began to set up camp. You can do so legally by emailing the sheriff, I believe, ahead of time. Anyway, right as we set up camp, a fair number of people began arriving to fish. Apparently this lake is stocked with every type of fish imaginable.
We’d hoped to dine at a local restaurant, but it was closed. So we ate lakeside by our tents.
Another great day!
