Cave in forest
Today’s hike to the Park and Ride outside Endeavor was mostly lovely. After our grueling day yesterday, we slept in until 7 a.m. We also decided not to hike our planned itinerary of 16.2 miles (26.1 km) and instead hike 14.5 miles (23.3 km). We were tired from yesterday, plus rain was predicted around 4 p.m., so that seemed wisest.

Heading for the Park and Ride

The first stretch of trail was beautiful. We saw more of the area’s striking rock formations, including lots of little caves. It was a little humid out, but not too bad. We ran into one backpacker heading in the opposite direction, but he wasn’t chatty.

We stopped for lunch after a second section of trail, then began a long road walk. Right after we started the road walk, there was an odd area where you get onto a very narrow, overgrown “trail” that is really just a way to get you up to a different, parallel road. It’s like an alley between some private property. It was short, thankfully.

It’s been very interesting to see the gazillions of inns and cabins in this area. It’s kind of crazy! Thankfully, the hills weren’t nearly as bad as the last few days.

Day Is Done

After the road walk, there was another short-ish section of trail that began in a very wet, marshy, muddy area. Our feet got wet – rats. After that, the trail climbed up a hill and wound around in pretty forest. The wildflowers are blooming!Woman crossing stream in forest.

This path eventually popped us out for a short jaunt between two homes. Then it was back on the road to our car. All in all, a nice day. (We also just missed the rain!)

The guys went into Logan for some groceries; we’re going to grill hamburgers tonight! I did an Epsom salt bath, too – ahh!
