Wow, what a great day hiking to the 400th Ave. Trailhead. If you’ve been following this trail journal, you know that we’ve had a few days that were very hot, buggy and featured overgrown trails. But this was a wonderful day.

We got started early, despite dropping two cars. The trail today was, for the most part, gently undulating and easy to hike. The mosquitoes and deer flies were annoying on and off, but nothing like some of the previous days. And there were, at most, 2-3 miles (3.2-4.8 km) of overgrown trail.
Making My Way to 400th Ave. Trailhead
While the going was easy, there were no spectacular sights today. Just the same Upper Midwest Northwoods experience. Not to say this is bad. Just that there were no amazing waterfalls or other features.
We’d hoped to enjoy numerous wild raspberries, but we didn’t find many today. When the day was done, the guys shuttled our cars while Amy and I drove to a small town to gas up my car.
Tonight we’re back in our campground (The Wilds), where we just enjoyed some Minnesota pizzas. Yum!
