Today’s itinerary called for hiking from the Harvey Bridge trailhead to Townline Road. We’d left Ed’s car at Townline Road yesterday, and the road there was pretty bad for most vehicles. I was nervous about ending there and driving out, after totaling my car last year on the NCT. Thankfully, the Harvey Bridge trailhead was easily accessible.
Today started off with some scrubby vegetation, but the trail quickly evolved into such lovely terrain! Yes, there were many steep hills. But the trail largely followed the Manistee River, showcasing its grandeur in so many spots.
Leaving Harvey Bridge Behind
The trail alternated between paths showcasing the Manistee River to some scrubby vegetation. There were so many campsites along the way! So heartening to see, after many stretches with no places to camp.
With a few miles to go before reaching Ed’s car at Townline Road, the trail became a road walk in the sun, then passed through some really scruffy vegetation for a while. At least there were no ticks! The last few miles were great. This is such an amazing trail!
