Dead trees stacked into teepees in the forest
Wow, that campsite last night was awful! Even a tiny tilt in the ground can make for terrible sleep. I was sliding all over my tent and felt like I didn’t sleep for one minute.
So it was a relief when morning came.

I packed up camp quickly and got on the trail, only to discover a wealth of really great campsites about a half-mile (1 km) from my terrible site. Grrr!

Now Departing Tenmile Trail for Silverthorne

Tenmile Trail is quite popular. I passed numerous groups on my way down the path, some quite large, who were all out for a morning hike. Curiously, I also saw teepees made of dead trees. I asked one person I encountered if she knew why the logs were set up into teepees. For aesthetics? A school project? Coincidentally, she works for some forest entity and said forest personnel do that so they can easily burn them later. This also helps thin out the dead trees, which helps prevent fires.

When I got into Frisco, the path wound through the town. The streets are steep! Outside of town I got on a paved travel, mainly used by cyclists. When I was nearing Silverthorne, the map had me segue onto singletrack trail, then tumbled me into town.

Snags

I got to The Block, my hostel lodging, only to find that, once again, my box had been Mountaintop scenereturned home because USPS doesn’t deliver in town. You have to have a P.O. Box. Only FedEx and UPS deliver to businesses and homes. But why didn’t our post office tell us they wouldn’t be able to deliver the box? Grr!

Without my resupply food, I had to run to REI to buy more. More importantly, that box contained my medications, so now I have to go without for another week. I was so flustered by all of this, I forgot I needed to buy fuel.

Ed Is Here!

But my hubby, Ed, arrived today, so that made everything better. We enjoyed a lovely Italian meal, then fell asleep pretty quickly.
