Oy, what a day! I thought today’s trek to Fisher Creek and beyond would be easy. I’m not sure why, but I did. And it wasn’t.
I slept in and leisurely broke camp. It was sunny but quite chilly for the first several hours. The trail climbed uphill all morning, quickly devolving from nice trail to overgrown trail. It was often muddy or rocky. The one bright spot: I found some wild raspberries to eat.

Plodding Toward Fisher Creek
I finally crested some mountain around noon or 1 p.m. From here, the trail wound downhill several miles on a gravel road. I was kind of hoping it would stay here, as it was easy to hike. But eventually the path went onto trail once again.
The scenery initially was gorgeous. The path wound through pastureland, and the cattle had torn up the trail. So it was lumpy and bumpy and slow going – but pretty. Eventually the path went into the woods.
Here, the trail was rocky and muddy and filled with horse apples. Once again it was slow going.
Finally Made It
My back was killing me when I finally found Fisher Creek. I had to cross on a four-log “bridge,” but I made it. There are lots of nice camping spots here, although lots of dried horse poop.
Oh, I also fell on gravel and banged up my knee. Rats.
