Old West town in the mountains.
Once again I had a great night’s sleep and finally felt pretty good. (Yesterday, my knees were swollen and achy.) I’m still working on that shuttle to Creede, so this is Zero Day 2 in Lake City.

One man at the hiker center is going in two days and will take me, but I’d prefer to go tomorrow. I’ve had enough rest! We’ll see what happens.

The pastor/head of the hiker center said he’s never failed to help a hiker. He posted something on the local Facebook page and asked if he could say I was an “older” woman to appear less scary. Ha! Definitely use my age to my advantage.

Hanging in Lake City

I spent Zero Day 2 working on my trail journals, going to the post office and catching up on the news. Tonight I sampled a stout (my favorite beer) at a local brewery, but it was just so-so (I’m picky).

It was interesting walking through the town, which looks like the Old West, and reading the wealth of historic plaques. Lots of people from Texas either retired here or spend the summer here. Interesting.
